COMPANY INCORPORATION IN CYPRUS

Cypriot companies benefit from a particularly low corporate tax rate of 12.5%. Dividend tax is 0%.

Dividends from non-resident shareholders are not taxed: there is no withholding tax on dividends paid by a Cypriot company to foreign shareholders (individuals or companies). No tax on the sale of shares.

Tax exemption on the sale of shares.

The Republic of Cyprus is a former British colony and current member state of the European Union. It is located in the Mediterranean Sea, bordered by Turkey (to the south), Syria (to the west) and Kastellorizo (a Greek island to the east), with a population of 1.2 million. The capital, the financial center of Cyprus, is Nicosia. Its official languages are Greek and Turkish, although English is widely spoken due to former British colonial rule.

The euro (EUR) became its official currency in 2008, with its economy heavily dependent on the service sector (which accounts for 4/5 of the country’s GDP). Tourism is the main part of the country’s service sector, with around two (2) million visitors each year; finance and asset management are also important service sectors.

Cyprus is one of Europe’s most favorable environments in which to start or establish a company; it is considered a gateway to the European common market due to its favorable tax policies, economy and foreign investment laws.

It is chosen by many non-European companies and serves as an investment gateway from the Western world to Russia, the Middle East, Asia and South America. Cyprus is also a shipping hub, with the fourth largest shipping registry in the world and a major source of revenue. The Republic of Cyprus exports citrus fruits, cement, potatoes, clothing and pharmaceutical products.

Many entrepreneurs/businessmen are eager to set up a cross-border company in Europe (in or near the European Union) in Cyprus, but it is important to know that Cyprus is not a cross-border zone in Europe (in or near the European Union) in the traditional sense, as Cypriot companies must undergo the state registration process, submit financial statements and hold annual shareholders’ meetings.

Our service is to put you in touch with the bank, not to open a bank account*. The bank has the sole right to decide whether or not to open a bank account* (art. L. 312-1, II CMF). The bank’s decision is based on the applicant’s profile and eligibility to open a bank account*. We do not open a bank account ourselves and do not guarantee the opening of a bank account*. Banking introduction* is a service obligation, not a performance obligation or a results requirement. See our other special conditions and our Terms of use, sales and privacy policy.
